James Bond and Coronavirus (COVID-19)
As a result of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, premiere of the new James Bond’s movie has moved forward by seven months. The new episode, specifically the 25th sequel to this cult saga, is postponed to November 12 in the UK and November 25 in the US.
“No Time to Die” was supposed to have premiere on April 3. This movie is becoming the first major Hollywood movie to have moved premiere, while countries and scientists are working to slow the spread of the new coronavirus.
“Only one person who may not have symptoms could infect the rest of the audience” wrote the representatives of MI6 Confidential and The James Bond Dossier, who are involved in the release of the movie, on Monday with an open letter.
Changing the date for James Bond’s 25th film was a hidden blessing, allowing him to become a big Thanksgiving and Christmas 2020 movie.
Coronavirus still sends shock waves to the entire movie industry (and to the world). Universal and MGM well considered and assessed the situation around the coronavirus, and decided to move the latest movie 007 to their traditional November home. “No Time to Die” was supposed to be premiered last November, but it was postponed until this years April. One of the reasons why James Bond Skyfall has been so successful in the past was the lack of a “big movie” that could compete with him for the attention of moviegoers. We will see whether the situation will repeat itself due to this shift.
